Fill a Bag Feed a Family
St. John's Social Ministry project for the summer. Bags are available in the back of the Chapel and in the Narthex of the church. The need is extremely great this year due to the economy. Also, during the summer children do not get breakfast and lunch at school and the food bags are very important to the needy families of our area. Please bring a bag of food throughout the summer or give a check to church in green envelope - for the food bank. Food this summer will go to the food bank and Family Services. Thank you!

Cooking For Pacific House by Cody Meyer
We went to church this afternoon to help Lillian and Fred. They are from Tanzania. When we got to church, they were already working. Lillian was drying the salad. Fred was cutting vegetables into some small pieces. Then they saw us so I took Lillian’s job. PopPop and Kelsey had to cut the bread. They cut 6 loaves of bread. It was call Italian bread. After a while, my hand and my arms were getting tired. So I used my other hand. When I was done I cut some cucumbers. After another while I cut myself on my middle finger. But that didn’t stop me. So then I shredded some carrots. We did all this because we‘re making salad supreme. On the grill was spaghetti. When the spaghetti and the sauce were done we mixed it together. There was lots of it. We put everything in the Pacifica (PopPop’s car) and drove to the Pacific House Homeless Shelter. We fed 60 men.
My body had a full feeling of goodness because I loved meeting Lillian and Fred. Also, I feel even better for helping the poor people.

Over $4000 was raised for area autism organizations from ticket sales and patrons for benefit performances at St. John's of a new musical, The Peace Table, in late April.
Thanks to all St. John's members who gave so generously. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans contributed matching funds to bring the total to approximately $6000. Special thanks go to those who helped with ticket sales and fundraising, to members of the cast, chorus and pit band, and to the church staff who donated their time.
