Upcoming Events at St. John's Lutheran Church
Community Holocaust Commemoration
United Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford, New Canaan and Darien will sponsor a community-wide Holocaust commemoration on Wednesday, April 11, 7 pm, at Temple Sinai (458 Lakeside Drive, Stamford), corresponding with Holocaust Remembrance Day. Jeannie Opdyke Smith, daughter of Irene Gut Opdyke, a Righteous Gentile who risked her life to save the lives of Jewish people during the Holocaust, will speak about her mother’s legacy, and the power of one person to change the world, even in the face of hate and violence. Holocaust survivors in our community will be honored during a candle-lighting remembrance ceremony. Especially at this time in history, as anti-Semitism, hatred and bigotry are empowered, remembering the Holocaust is an imperative.
WELCA Quilting Group
The Quilting group meets again on Friday, April 13 at 7pm in the Colonial Room and the second Friday each month. Please come join us or at least check us out. Any type of help is appreciated from monetary donations to expert sewing skills. We will even teach you!
