He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
St. John’s engages in many mission-driven endeavors.
St. John’s collects food and raises money regularly for the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County and various pantries of Family Centers. Thanksgiving Baskets are assembled and distributed Family Centers. Dollars are raised for Souper Bowl for Caring, and donations are made to ELCA World Hunger.
Midnight Run is a program where food and goods are delivered twice a year to the homeless in New York City in partnership with St. Francis Episcopal Church. Members of St. John's serve meals the second Sunday of each month at Pacific House Shelter, a homeless shelter in Stamford for men.
- Other Mission Opportunities
St. John’s also participates in collecting school kits for Lutheran World Relief, providing Christmas gifts and vouchers for Family Centers, Heifer Project International, making quilts distributed through Lutheran World Relief, and Navajo Lutheran Mission in Arizona. St. John’s responds quickly and generously when a human need must be met.
